Talking Preparedness to a Packed House in Chicago

Today's DC earthquake validates the importance of Safe America's current Text First, Talk Second campaign... which gained momentum this morning with a high-level briefing in Chicago.


At today's three-hour discussion, representatives from Illinois and Cook County Homeland Security units - along with Chicago Police, the Mayor's office and City Aldermen - joined civic and business leaders in planning to 'participate' in our third annual drill season this September/October (by staging texting drills). This comes on the heels of briefings in the past 10 days in 5 states: Missouri, Iowa, Alabama, Connecticut and Pennsylvania. Collectively, over 600 civic, business and community leaders have agreed to join Safe America's March to 1 Million and take this campaign to all 50 states.

The October 6, 2011 meeting at the Durham Chamber of Commerce also gave participants an opportunity to discuss a potential Durham Be Safe America exercise engaging the County’s 270,000 residents in preparedness exercises this fall.

Atlanta, Dec. 12, 2011 – The Marietta, Georgia-based Safe America Foundation honored UPS Communications Manager Jack McKlveen as its 2011 “Volunteer of the Year.”  This award recognizes Mr. McKlveen’s outstanding contributions towards encouraging one million Americans to participate in the Foundation’s annual national emergency preparedness initiative, the  Be Safe America program and its March to 1 Million campaign.

The company's ability and resourcefulness in getting their restaurants back open after an emergency has almost become the source of legend for those in the emergency management community.

Germany’s DEKRA/North America Signs ‘Cooperation Agreement’ with Safe America

Partnership may make metro-area national center for driver, risk management training; bring jobs to region

Stuttgart, Germany, Sept 29, 2011 – The Marietta, Georgia-based Safe America Foundation and DEKRA North America, subsidiary of Germany’s DEKRA AG Group, signed a ‘Cooperation Agreement’ today in Germany.  This new agreement promises to spur greater interaction between the two organizations in the areas of driver education, traffic safety and risk awareness – potentially leading to the creation of new jobs in Georgia.
