Big in Des Moines

Safe America’s Len Pagano, Mary Lou Pagano and Risa Mendelson were a big hit at the National Foundation of Women Legislators' Annual Conference in Des Moines on August 12-14.

Over the course of two days, they networked and held presentations with hundreds of attendees educating them about Safe America’s 2011 Be Safe America tour, March to 1 Million, Text Fist.Talk Second and Safest Kid in America Contest efforts. The response we received was phenomenal.

Legislators from 32 states agreed to go back home and lead Safe America preparedness drills in their communities. Over 60 elected officials recorded Public Services Announcements designed to educate their constituents on the Foundation’s new text ‘safety shorthand’ – 7865 “RUOK”/4665 “IMOK.”

Des Moines is a fantastic city and it was inspiring to witness the passion and dedication that these women brought to representing their communities. Len and Mary Lou even got witness the Iowa Republican Straw Poll in action. Thank you to Robin Read, President and CEO, NFWL. We are looking to participating in this great even in the future.
